Are marble kitchen countertops recommended?

I have marble countertops in a house I just bought. They are horrible. They have to be polished all the time. They streak easy. They have areas where they are worn. I am assuming somebody cleaned them wrong or put hot pots on them. My next countertops will be Corian. I like a spotless house and these marble countertops never look really clean.

Brochure Printing: Writing Effective, Attention-grabbing Copy for Brochures

The average success rate of direct-mail advertising through brochures should be taken into context. Brochures or brochure printing should be treated as a supplementary advertising material to a well-formulated marketing strategy. These can ably support and not as independent agents.

Although brochures sent through direct-mail have higher readership compared to other advertisement, the medium is only as good as its message. Brochures can create hype about your product, but it will not guarantee a sale. Yet, it has the capacity to do so and you must wield its full potential to generate sales for yourself.

Ideally, brochures are a printed resource sent to the right demographic to educate them and guide them to make the right purchases. The brochure should contain in-depth discussion of the specific features of a product and its consequent benefit.

Given these premises, here are a few guidelines in designing a readable brochure:

Flow of the Brochure

• People read from left to right, up going down. Going against this sequence lowers readership by 50%.

• Illustrations are more effective than text in drawing attention. Start with the illustration to catch the audience’s interest, and follow this with a Headline or caption that explains the illustration.

Presenting the Copy

• The copy should be legible. It should be written on a plain light colored background. Don’t overlap the text with illustrations as it reduces readability. Avoid fancy fonts, and settle for standard easy to read fonts.

• Learn to prioritize the importance of your information. Bold letters, Italics, and Caps, can grab a reader’s attention to a phrase.

• Use CAPS for no more than a phrase a paragraph, bold, a sentence, and Italics, for verbatim quotes. All Caps is hard to read as it removes the visual clues for comprehension. Too much bold letters makes the entire copy too heavy.

• Write short titles to break the monotony of the copy, and to guide the reader with the flow of the copy.

• Use bullet points as often as possible.

Managing the Content

• Brochures should have depth. Start with interesting information. It can be an anecdote, a trivia from a study, or a testimonial. Present relevant information in simple terms. Fancy words, catch-all phrases, and exaggerations are often met with doubt.

• Present the benefits of the features of your new product. Avoid jargon and abbreviations only experts will understand. If you must mention them, explain what they mean in simple terms.

• Avoid showing too much pictures. A catalog is intended to showcase the company’s products. It is usually designed for decorative products whose selling point is what they look like instead of their specs.

• Choose one product, one service, or one feature at a time. Reserve others for a separate brochure. Otherwise, you will be forced to say too little about too much.

Encourage Action

• Include contact information, store details, or an order form. Marketing doesn’t end with convincing your client about how great your product is, or that they want to buy it. The goal of marketing is to actually buy the product.

• Offer time-limited promos to create urgency for your clients. Or if it’s a gadget, make it sound like your clients need it ASAP. “Protect Yourself and Your Family Today”, etc.

i just bought a new pc and would like to make sure that what was written in the brochure matches the hardware...

pls recommend a simple program so that i can check the specs of the computer before i bring back home....

A quick way of doing this in Windows is by going to Start>Run and then typing in dxdiag

This will tell you a lot, just don't edit anything, lol. You can see the display information (video card info), sound (sound card) and more.

Installing a New Faucet

Upgrading the look of your bathroom or kitchen by installing a new faucet is a simple project. Most homeowners can tackle the project with some basic tools and a little plumbing knowledge. When installing a new faucet, keep the following information in mind.

Be sure to have all the necessary parts. Even though most residential faucets come complete with handles, a pop-up drain assembly and are ready to install, there are a number of connection parts are required and might need to be purchased separately. These include items such as the P-trap, water supplies and shut-off valves.

Spend some time under the sink making connections and tightening nuts, empty the area so you can work easier. Also, make sure the faucet body is nice and square to the edge of the sink as you tighten nuts to secure the faucet.

If you are installing an undermount style sink on a thick marble base, you may require a faucet extension so that it lays flush with the surface. If you choose a pedestal or wall-mount sink where the fittings are exposed, you may want to coordinate the finish of the drain and P-trap with the rest of your faucets and fittings.

Before you begin, make sure you turn off the water supply valves to the faucet. This can be done usually by turning the valves off under the bathroom sink. Confirm the water is off by turning the faucet on and checking that no water flows from it.

Follow the installation manual that comes with your new faucet to remove the old faucet and install the new one.

When you are completed, turn the new faucet on and check for leaks above and below the sink. If any leaks are found, turn off the supply line valves and retighten the leaky fitting nuts. Then turn the supply lines back on and confirm that the leaks have stopped.

Kitchen Faucet Removal Problem?

Im installing a new kitchen faucet. I have disconnected all hoses and the sprayer from the Kitchen Sink. I have disconnected the handles and stem.

My problem is Im not sure how to remove the two washers directly under the sink handles for cold and hot. Once I get them off I should be able to remove the remaining locking nut on each side.

Any suggestions to get these rusted pesky washers off?

I have the following tools at my disposal:

Pliers
Screwdrivers
Drill
Dremel Rotary Tool
Small Chisel
Hammer
Mallet (Metal and rubber)
plus pretty much any other basic tools.

Oh yeah, I meant to say the washers are in the cabinet area of sink, directly under the handles. I believe it's considered a bottom mount faucet.

if you cant' get it, if you have a top mount sink, its just easier to take the sink out then get to it from there, Then you can reseat the sink back into the hole with fresh putty, that way you know the sink is secure, and wont' have to take it out later. Its not complicating to remove the sink, usually takes just screwdriver or Nut Driver adn remove the retaining clips. It may soudn like a hastle but has saved me hours of time in more than one job. But if you dont want to do this, the best option like was mentioned is to take a dremel with cutoff and score the bolt loose. It will be a hard squeeze getting the dremel positioned exaclty where you want it to be productive. Dremels have many many uses, and one of my favorite tools. I strongly recommend pb blaster, it is 100 times better than wd40 and less mess, little thicker, and well worth the cost.
oh yeh for your safety, remove all wd-40 and other lubricants off the screw, the liquid is flamable and the spark from the dremel can/will start a fire. fire extinguisher just in case is cheap insurance.
