Training Manual

The world is health and safety conscious which isn't always a good thing. It can actually make tasks that would normally be performed in a fraction of the time take a lot longer to perform. However, because of the threat of legal action should anything go wrong it is a necessity to take these extra precautions for the sake of your company and your employees.

When you start a job these days there is usually a number of Training Courses that you will have to complete in order to comply with the companies health and safety procedure. One of these pieces of training that your new employees will be expected to perform is manual handling training.

A large proportion of the injuries suffered around the office will involve something to do with lifting an object, which is why performing manual handling training is so important. Injuries from the lifting of objects are not always sustained because of the weight of the object. Sometimes an item can be well within the strength capabilities of the individual in question, but if the individual in question uses the wrong technique to lift the object then that in itself can be enough to cause a serious injury.

Most of the employees within your organisation will complain as soon as you mention that there is a manual handling training course on the horizon. This is mainly because everyone assumes that they can lift items safely and correctly. However, as an office manager I spend a large proportion of my time walking around the office and I am literally shocked at the amount of times that I see individuals picking up items bending their backs instead of bending their knees.

On top of this I'm staggered at the sheer amount of our employees that flaunt the manual handling training procedures when it comes to carrying sharp objects like scissors, envelope openers or other sharp and potentially dangerous objects. Obviously the sharp end of the object should be placed into the close palm of one of their hands to avoid the risk of stabbing someone accidentally in a trip or fall.

When you notice that individuals around the office are blatantly flaunting the manual handling training procedure, I usually find that a threat to send them on a refresher course helps them to quickly and easily remember the correct and appropriate technique required.

I am looking at a couple of books online 2007 MOS Inside and Out or 2007 MOS Step by Step, anyone have any advice on this?

I have used a couple of the step by step books and they are very good.
You might want to go to a bookstore or library and see what they have and then look online to see if you can get the book cheaper

Well, I have the PM-760 (top one), and my brother used to have the Daisy-880 (bottom one).
I know the PM-760 will probably not penetrate a pigeon, it's decently powerful but nothing remarkable.
(It will penetrate a wooden fence if you pump it 20 times, which is twice the max. recomended ammount!)
I remember the daisy as being somewhat more powerful, but not sure how much.

Rapid weight loss programs can have a strange effect on some people as they underestimate just how it will change their lives. If you find that your exercise regime and diet aren't providing the weight loss fast enough you may need to adjust your regime accordingly. If you find a plan isn't working as it should then perhaps you will need to change the diet plan as each person's metabolism is different and you cannot expect every diet plan to work.

Certain physical activities are easier than others so do not be concerned if all you can do to start with is walk; however, try to improve the pace you walk at as your diet progresses, remembering that you will look better when your fat is converted into muscle. Drinking water regularly throughout the day is very important; rapid weight loss depends on flushing your system out so you must stay hydrated during the process, about 6 large glasses per day should be enough. Avoid fat drenched deep fried foods which can also mean fish and chicken if you are eating the wrong part of the animal.

Food that is grilled is generally better for your health so when presented with this option, take this over fried food. Some people believe you should give up eating carbohydrates but without them in your diet you will not have any energy to exercise and by definition lose weight. This type of diet supplies between 1,000 and 1,500 calories per day and it is not too difficult to lose about a pound or so in weight every day; however, it is quite possible that weight will start to rise again if you do not maintain a reasonable calorie level each day.

2003 Saturn Vue won't start - rapid clicking sounds?

But I have little space and putting cords, Cds and various sized documents in a file folder doesn't seem efficient. Anyone have any suggestions? Are there any organization products for this?

Yes, they are called filing cabinets or boxes. You can get the box type, with a lid, and the stuff like manuals etc. can go in folders. The CDs in jewel cases and the cords etc. in a small box. It could then be stored on a shelf or under a counter or what ever.
